What a workshop looks like
Uplift Debate's program takes place through a series of weekly, in-person, after-school, workshops led by high school volunters.

- We come to Bay Area schools and teach in-person.
- Instruction
- Led by high school debaters following Uplift Debate's curriculum.
- Focus
- We prioritize hands-on learning and collaborative application of debate concepts, excercising students' critical thinking and argumentation in the process.
- Access
- Free to students and delivered directly to participating Bay Area schools.

Program Outcomes
By the end of the workshops, students will
- Increase engagement in debate
- Strengthen public speaking skills and confidence
- Deepen knowledge across a variety of fields, including politics and economics
- Increase critical thinking
- Encourage students to care more about their education
Scholarship pathway
Connecting workshops to competitive debate
Uplift Debate connects students to competitive high school debate by funding scholarships to paid debate programs for low-income students.
The project also connects students to high school programs such as SVUDL.
